The religious culture of ancient India of Vedic times is known as Sanatan Dharm (eternal religion). Eternal religious is a way of ideal life taught to mankind by the ancient sages of India. It enabled human beings to view life in the right perspective. It embraces the worldly as well as the spiritual aspects of human existence. It helps mankind to differentiate between appearances and reality and to determine the relative importance that should be given to the materialistic and spiritual aspects of life. It preaches that human beings ho lead a life free from passions and the attractions of the external world are guaranteed mental equipoise, serenity and spiritual enlightenment. It is pragmatic too, since it couples exertion and rest, pursuit and withdrawal, enjoyment and renunciation.

Sanatan Dharm is the most ancient knowledge and valuable culture heritage which mankind ad received from ancient Indian sages. The truths of this knowledge have accumulated over many centuries since time immemorial and have been confirmed by the experiences of numerous sages, saints, yogis and devotes over long period of time. The philosophical concepts of Sanatan Dharm are derived from the India “Vedas”, which are considered the most ancient Scripture and the first historical evidence in the world. As such, Sanatan Dharm is often depicted also as the Vedic Dharm.
